Welcome,
my name is Kingsley Morrison, and along with my wife
Jacqueline and three
sons we are excited to be part of what God is doing in
the city of Montreal, and especially through the members
of the Church of God of Prophecy. On December 28, 2008
I was “installed” as Senior Pastors to this
vibrant and committed congregation.
The
History of the Montreal-West Church of God of Prophecy
is rich in spirit and favoured
by God grace. After four decade of faithful service in
building a strong, vibrant Pentecostal movement in the
city of Montreal “we are positioned to minister
to people across economic, cultural, and language barriers.
The Church began as a fellowship
of believers on August 3, 1971 pioneered by Pastor Aston
Cole, and four faithful members. Pastor Cole led the
church for eight years, during which time the membership
grew from four to forty-five.
He was succeeded by Pastor
Clarke who continued the work diligently; and by the
end of his term, the membership had almost doubled. He
served the local congregation from 1979- 1986. He was
succeeded by Pastor Leroy Greenaway who led the church
in purchasing the first Church of God of Prophecy building
in the city of Montreal. The dream to have a place of
their own, a place to call home was finally realized.
The congregation grew to over 250 in attendance. Pastor
Greenaway served until 2002.
Pastor Donald Lee served
as interim pastor for one year until while the church
searched for a successor to Pastor Greenaway.
From
2003- 2008 Pastor Trevor Reid assumed the pastorate.
Under his leadership the
Lord led this growing church into its second building.
This Multi-purpose facility is now being transformed
into a dynamic, ministry center that will be used to
serve the city of Montreal; with believers who are called
to build God’s kingdom and advance His mission.
A
new season in the life of the Montreal West congregation
has begun under the
leadership of Pastor Kingsley and Jacqueline Morrison.
The vision is to faithfully declare the gospel, equip
and develop God’s people for 21st Century ministry.
